The Mofidi desiccant air dryer is designed to produce very dry compressed air, lowering the dew point to about −70 °C. It is a twin-tower dryer that uses a reliable electronic controller to adsorb moisture continuously with minimal pressure drop. Pre- and after-filters ensure a clean, steady air flow.

How Does a Desiccant Dryer Work?
The dryer has two towers filled with a moisture-adsorbing desiccant such as activated alumina. Compressed air flows through one tower, where the desiccant adsorbs its moisture. At the same time, the second tower is regenerated and the absorbed moisture is removed from its desiccant. Using solenoid valves, the electronic controller automatically switches the towers so drying continues without interruption. The purge air flow rate is adjustable.
Applications
- Pharmaceutical and medical industries
- Sensitive food production and packaging
- Electronics and precision instruments
- High-quality painting and coating
- Compressed air lines in cold environments with a risk of freezing
Desiccant or Refrigerated Dryer?
| Feature | Refrigerated dryer | Desiccant dryer |
|---|---|---|
| Drying method | Cools the air so water vapor condenses | Adsorbs moisture with a desiccant (e.g. activated alumina) |
| Dew point | About +3 °C | Down to about −70 °C |
| Best for | Most general industrial applications | Highly sensitive processes and ultra-dry air |
| Mofidi product | Refrigerated air dryer | Desiccant air dryer |
If your application does not need a very low dew point, a refrigerated air dryer is the more economical choice.
Installation and Accessories
Install the desiccant dryer after the air receiver, with a filter upstream to remove oil and particles so the desiccant is not contaminated. A particle filter downstream catches any desiccant dust.
Maintenance Tips
- Refill or replace the desiccant (activated alumina) according to the manufacturer’s instructions.
- Replace the pre- and after-filters on time.
- Check the solenoid valves and controller periodically.

Desiccant Air Dryer – FAQ
What dew point does it reach?
Down to about −70 °C.
What desiccant does it use?
A moisture-adsorbing desiccant such as activated alumina, which must be refilled or replaced over time.
Why does it have two towers?
One tower dries the air while the other regenerates, so the dryer runs without interruption.
